Cookie Dough & Regret: Baking and Shame

limesarebetterthanlemons asked: First of all, I want to say that I love the blog. It reads like the funny pages and feels like therapy. Second, I wanted to extol guava paste. I've used it in baking. I thinned it out with orange juice until it was a thick syrup, covered apple slices in it, topped it with oatmeal streusel, and baked it. It was one of the best apple crisps I've ever made. Guava paste is excellent, so sweet and tropical with the bonus of not having to figure out how to peel, prep, and puree the actual fruit.

This is not the first time someone has mentioned the virtues of guava to you, and you’re slightly concerned about all this guava push. Is there an advertising agency behind it? Do guavas have backers? Is there some sort of guava Super PAC? Before you make any decisions, you’ll need to see guavas’ tax records for the last five years.
